At The Forge, nothing makes us prouder than seeing our customers out enjoying their classics — and even more so when they come back for a second one! Recently, one of our returning customers shared a brilliant story about their experience, and it perfectly captures what classic car ownership (and preparation done right) is all about.

Their journey began with Georgie, a cheeky little green Triumph Spitfire that brought plenty of smiles to the road. When the time came to find something a little larger for longer adventures, they returned to The Forge in search of another classic with that same spark of character. What followed was the discovery of an immaculate MGB GT V8, a spontaneous test drive, and an unforgettable trip through Scotland that put the car — and their confidence in it — to the ultimate test.

Here’s their story in their own words:

“If you buy mint you won’t be skint” these are wise words from my local garage, who have obviously seen classic cars in various conditions over the years. The V8 is our second classic car purchased from Christian, the first being the cheeky little green Spitfire called Georgie. We were looking for another classic to take on holidays, a little larger than the Spitfire and one that was as much fun. Classic cars bring the fun back into driving and the V8 has not disappointed, the sound of the engine purring is a delight. We contacted Christian to view a TR6 he had for sale, however when we drove it, it wasn’t for us, you know when a car is right for you, especially the older ones, they seem to talk to you. Christian has such a fantastic collection of cars in his show room, he suggested a MGB GT V8 which had just arrived. We took it for a test drive and what a car, we fell in love with it immediately. As it had just arrived, there were a couple of things which needed attention, which you can expect from a vehicle which is 49 years old. Christian prepared the car the following week and we collected it on a Friday, the following day we set off for a week driving in Scotland. Over the following 8 days we covered 1200 miles, we did not break down once and the car was admired wherever we went. Testament I think to a very well prepared classic. As you can imagine covering so many miles in such a short time a couple of things needed addressing on our return, Christian is true to his word and has resolved them without any issue. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the Forge Prees, Christian is a gentleman and someone I now call friend. I believe he sells “mint” cars. You won’t go wrong buying from him and if there are issues, he will resolve them for you. Thanks Christian, I do have my eye on the Austin Healey 3000 & 1965 TR4 …. just need a lottery win.”

Stories like this mean the world to us. It’s why we do what we do — ensuring that every car we prepare is ready to be driven, enjoyed, and trusted, wherever the road may lead.

A huge thank you to our customer for sharing such kind words. We’re thrilled that both Georgie and the MGB GT V8 have found a home where they’re truly loved — and we’ll be keeping an eye out for that next addition to the collection.
