We are delighted to welcome a truly standout example to The Forge: a fast-road prepared 1971 Triumph TR6, finished in classic New White with a black interior and black hood. Without doubt one of the quickest TR6 road cars we’ve driven in recent years, this is a machine that delivers thrilling performance wrapped in unmistakable Triumph character — all underscored by a magnificent and highly addictive soundtrack.

Manufactured on 12th October 1970, this right-hand-drive, home-market TR6 was first supplied via the Triumph Management Car Plan through a Triumph dealer in Allesley, Coventry. Remarkably, it retains its original VIN, engine, body, and registration numbers. Factory specification was generous, including New White paintwork, black trim and hood, heater, laminated windscreen, wire wheels, black tonneau cover, Dunlop SP Sport tyres, petrol injection, overdrive, seatbelts, wing mirrors, and a radio.

While remaining faithful to its original specification, the car underwent a comprehensive rebuild over ten years ago and has since benefited from a carefully considered programme of fast-road upgrades. Highlights include a Phoenix stainless-steel exhaust system, Spax adjustable dampers at all four corners, and polybushing throughout — all of which contribute to the car’s sharp, planted, and highly engaging driving experience.

Today, the TR6 presents beautifully as a well-maintained older restoration. The chassis remains strong, panel gaps are good, and the paintwork retains a sharp finish with only minor age-related blemishes. The white bodywork is enhanced by a black pinstripe and TR6 rear quarter panel decals, giving the car a purposeful, period-correct stance.

The black mohair hood is in excellent condition, having recently received a new rear window along with fresh dye and a waterproof coating. Chrome work front and rear is superb, including the wing mirrors, door handles, fuel cap, and bumper-mounted spotlights. A set of new 16" Minilite-style alloy wheels fitted with Yokohama C.Drive 2 tyres completes the look, while the large-bore 2.5" Phoenix stainless exhaust hints at the performance on offer.

Inside, the cabin is equally appealing. Black carpets and door cards are complemented by a black crackle-finish dashboard housing refurbished instruments with chrome bezels. The odometer currently shows 93,043 miles. A 14" three-spoke steering wheel, Sony CD radio with upgraded speakers, Kenlowe fan and fog light switches, and overdrive all enhance usability, while the high-back reclining seats remain in outstanding condition and offer excellent comfort. Inertia-reel seatbelts, new sun visors, and a very clean hood lining round out a well-presented interior.

The boot area mirrors the rest of the car, trimmed neatly in black carpet and complete with a working boot light, refurbished steel spare wheel, jack, wheel wrench, and the original black hood cover with white piping.

Lifting the bonnet reveals a clean and very well-presented engine bay, highlighted by a triple Weber carburettor conversion and a number of tasteful supporting upgrades. These not only enhance visual appeal but transform the driving experience, delivering strong, urgent performance with an intoxicating soundtrack to match.

Overall, this TR6 represents a superbly sorted example that blends classic British sports car charm with carefully judged modern enhancements. With its strong chassis, attractive older restoration, engaging interior, and fast-road performance, it is every inch an enthusiast’s car — rewarding to drive, brimming with character, and sounding every bit as good as it looks.

All enquiries now welcome.
