We are thrilled to announce the return of a very special motor car to The Forge Prees – a 1974 MGB Roadster 4.0L V8 that captivated enthusiasts when we first sold it just last year. It has since formed part of a prestigious local collection, owned by a discerning collector who is now in the process of downsizing. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to bring this remarkable car back into our showroom and offer it once again to the market. Many missed the chance to acquire it the first time, and we expect strong interest now that it’s available once more.

Originally rebuilt in spring 2021 by renowned specialists CCHL Classic and Sports Cars in Hull, this MGB Roadster was transformed into a bespoke V8-powered restomod using a brand-new heritage body shell and enhanced extensively throughout. Finished in the period-correct Bracken (BLVC93) paint, the shell was fully undersealed, machine polished, and treated with a five-year guaranteed ceramic coating by Perfect Polish of Shrewsbury, ensuring an enduring high-gloss finish.

The powertrain is centred around a cross-bolted 4.0L Rover V8 engine, built by Vitesse Global and paired with a freer-revving 3.9L camshaft and bespoke exhaust system. The result is a highly responsive V8 delivering performance and sound more akin to a TVR than a traditional MGB. The drive is further enhanced by a MX-5 5-speed gearbox (also from Vitesse), Wilwood front brakes, rear drum brakes, and Revotec electric twin fans.

Underneath, the chassis benefits from a thoughtfully upgraded suspension system, including Moss Europe’s dynamic coil-over setup with Bilstein adjustable shocks at the front and a Frontline Developments 5-link rear system. The car is fully polybushed and features a Quaife Limited Slip Differential for improved traction and balance. A Frontline front spoiler adds to both the aesthetic and aerodynamic profile.

Inside, the attention to detail continues. The cockpit is finished in Autumn Leaf with matching boot carpets and refurbished V8 seats, trimmed in new leather. Comfort is guaranteed with two-stage electric heated seats, electric windows, and a Motolita leather steering wheel. The interior is complemented by a DAB/Bluetooth classic car audio system and thoughtful additions such as USB ports, a battery isolator, and a new mohair hood and half tonneau cover.

This MGB sits on 15” anthracite Minilite-style wheels wrapped in Avon ZT7 tyres, offering both classic looks and modern handling. The car has covered fewer than 3,600 miles since its rebuild and has been meticulously cared for, always garaged and never driven on salted roads. It presents in exceptional condition throughout and performs like a modern sports car, with an estimated 200bhp per tonne.

The original build cost, including all upgrades and enhancements, totalled £51,230. A full breakdown of the specification and supporting invoices is available in the car’s comprehensive history file. Accompanying documentation includes the CCHL build sheet and valuation, V5C registration, classic tuning handbook, MOT certificate, rolling road tune specification, workshop manuals, and two sets of keys.

This is a truly unique opportunity to own one of the finest MGB V8 restomods available, built to an exceptional standard and ready to enjoy. The Forge Prees is proud to offer this exceptional car once again to those who appreciate craftsmanship, provenance, and performance.
