HKK 888D is a UK home market Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Two-plus-two Coupe that was built on the 28th of June 1966. Still retaining its original engine, the E-Type originally left the factory with Automatic transmission and was later converted to the more desirable four speed, all synchromesh manual gearbox. The E-Type was supplied new in Opalescent Dark Green with Suede Green leather trim and was distributed out of Henlys London and supplied new by Haynes Bros to its first owner Mr H E Kettle. The car was first registered on the 21st of July 1966 with the Kent registration mark HKK 888D.

The most recent owner purchased the E-Type from Jaguar specialists Lanes Cars eleven years ago. Prior to delivering the car in 2015, Lanes Cars carried out a full re-paint and also had the bumpers re-chromed and since then the car has covered 1500 miles. The only notable expenditure since then was over 2022 and 2023 when almost £8000 was spent with CMC in Shropshire. This included new wheel bearings, new hub oil seals, complete new radius arms, new gearbox cover gasket, new header tank and coolant hose, new exhaust front pipes, front brake pads and discs and various brake pipes. Going back earlier, in 2004 the car was supplied by The E-Type Centre and was fitted with a new Moto-Lita steering wheel, stainless steel brake hoses, Lumenition ignition, solid state fuel pump, Quartz headlamps, Coopercraft brake calipers and front suspension poly bushes, subtly upgrading the car for improved braking and usability.

HKK 888D is a very smartly presented example with a lovely paint finish eleven years on since its re-paint, a sharp, straight body that is structurally excellent and bright chromework. The interior has been re-trimmed in the past and is of a lovely standard, the engine bay is well presented, and the car has the feel of a good quality, honest, and usable example. On the road it performs very well with a strong, fit 4.2 six-cylinder engine holding impressive oil pressure, the four speed manual gearbox offers lovely slick changes and the E-Type handles and brakes well. This Jaguar is ideal for shows and events, club runs, longer distance touring and is without doubt capable of regular all year-round use.
