We are delighted to offer this exceptional home market matching numbers Triumph TR5 PI onto the market. Still finished in its original colour combination of Valencia Blue with Black upholstery, this car was supplied new by L.F Dove Limited in Wimbledon, London on the 27th December 1967. Featuring overdrive and chrome wire wheels, this TR5 was first registered on the 12th February 1968 and comes with a copy of its original buff logbook recording early ownership records confirming the car had just one owner for over 20 years.
By 2010 the TR5 was ready for restoration and was subject of a major mechanical rebuild. The engine was fully stripped down and rebuilt to include reground crankshaft. The engine was uprated with a fast road 83 camshaft and uprated valve springs and timing gear. Further enhancements included a stainless steel exhaust system, the gearbox was rebuilt and upgraded with Triumph Stag internals and the brakes treated to Wilwood 4 pot calipers. Spax adjustable shocks were fitted all round, an uprated aluminium radiator and long range custom built aluminium fuel tank fitted for long distance touring. Further to that the car benefitted from a new Bosch fuel pump, electronic ignition, Kenlowe fan and hazard light switch for compliance for touring in Europe. The body was completely restored to an exceptional standard with first class paint finish complementing the beautiful chrome work and upholstery. The engine bay was fitted out to a top class standard, and the underside is first class throughout as expected with this level of rebuild.
Having covered around 11,000 miles of touring, in 2024 the TR5 sold to a London based owner who paid £52,000 and then spent over £20,000 on the car. Worked included servicing, poly bushes, detailed paintwork fourteen years on since restoration and a new soft top and frame. All work was carried out by a highly regarded London Triumph specialists. As result the car really is first class, and is further enhanced by its impressive provenance. With matching numbers, original colours and very sensible upgrades that have stood the car very well with overseas touring in France and Spain, this really is a fantastic opportunity. Beautifully presented throughout and mechanically first class, this is a TR5 ready to use and enjoy. Please note the personalised registration mark is not included.
