Honest, Characterful, and Carefully Prepared — A True Driver’s TR6
First registered in 1969, this Triumph TR6 left the Coventry factory on 8th December and was dispatched later that month to British Leyland Inc. in San Francisco. After a spell in the United States, the car made its way to Perth, Western Australia, before returning to the UK in 2015.
Today, it presents as a well-sorted, honest example with a strong sense of character and a clear focus on drivability. The solid chassis, sound bodywork, and dependable mechanicals reflect a car that has been properly maintained, not over-restored — just the way real drivers like them.
Under the bonnet, the robust straight-six is fed by twin SU carburettors, delivering that unmistakable TR6 soundtrack — without the well-known worries associated with the fuel-injected PI models. At some point in its life, the steering was professionally converted to right-hand drive. Both the engine and four-speed manual gearbox (non-overdrive) perform strongly, and the interior remains tidy and original in feel.
In recent months, over £7,000 has been invested in careful mechanical preparation, ensuring the car drives exactly as it should. It’s had attention in all the right places.
The result is a TR6 that’s genuinely sorted — not just smart on the outside but mechanically sound where it counts.
Extras include a black soft top, torpedo door mirrors, high-back bucket seats, leather-rimmed steering wheel, stereo player, over-mats, spare wheel, chrome rocker cover, pancake air filters, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate.
Summary:
A characterful, carburettor-fed TR6 with the right mechanical upgrades and a focus on genuine driving enjoyment. Supplied freshly serviced with a no-advisory MOT until 18th December 2025 — a strong, honest example that’s ready to be driven and enjoyed from day one.
