We are delighted to welcome this stunning 1971 MGB Roadster to The Forge, finished in Midnight Blue with a black hood and black interior.

Wearing the private registration VKF 112 (originally KJW 274K), this beautifully presented MGB has covered just 34,000 miles since a comprehensive bare-shell restoration carried out to an excellent standard in the mid-1990s. The car was stripped back to a bare shell, shot-blasted, and completely rebuilt using numerous brand-new panels. Once completed, the shell was carefully prepared and repainted before being rebuilt with new trim, rubbers, chrome, and fully refurbished mechanical and electrical components.

All restoration work was undertaken by respected Derbyshire specialists A.R. Griffiths Classic Automobiles, who also maintained the car for many years following completion. The extensive history file includes detailed invoices itemising many thousands of pounds spent on parts and labour, along with photographs documenting the car at bare-shell stage.

During the first ten years after restoration, the MGB covered an impressive 30,000 miles, with invoices showing meticulous and consistent maintenance throughout. By 2014, following a change of ownership, the car had covered just over 33,000 miles since restoration. Over the past nine years it has added approximately 2,500 miles, supported by regular servicing and MOT testing.

Within the last 1,000 miles, the MGB has benefited from significant mechanical expenditure, including new front brake pads and discs, rear brake shoes, braided brake hoses, clutch master and slave cylinders, front wheel bearings, rear wheel cylinders, a new thermostat, front hub seal, and upgraded silicone coolant hoses. In 2024, the most recent owner invested £184.90 in a new radiator and a further £2,742.79 fitting a brand-new set of chrome wire wheels shod with high-quality Yokohama tyres.

On the road, this MGB has proven to be completely reliable and an ideal classic for open-top motoring. The engine is strong and healthy, holding excellent oil pressure, while the four-speed gearbox with overdrive operates smoothly. The car feels tight and composed, offering confident handling and impressive braking.

Thanks to its high-quality restoration, careful ownership, and diligent maintenance, this MGB remains in superb mechanical order some 30 years on. VKF 112 presents exceptionally well, with an excellent bodyshell and a charmingly well-aged character. The underside is first-class, the paintwork remains highly attractive, and both the interior and engine bay are superbly presented.

This is a gorgeous example that has matured beautifully since restoration and delivers a truly delightful driving experience.
