1972 Triumph TR6 (Registered 1975) – Mimosa Yellow
We are delighted to present this exceptionally well-prepared Triumph TR6, finished in vibrant Mimosa Yellow with contrasting black trim. Originally red before being refinished in its current colour, which suits the lines of the TR6 beautifully, the car was first registered in the UK on 11 August 1975, though declared manufactured in 1972. Being a CP-series example, this TR6 is one of the higher-output 150bhp models that remained in Europe, as these were not exported to the US due to emissions regulations. Its early history is not fully documented, though as a right-hand-drive example it may have spent its first few years in the Channel Islands or Ireland before returning to the UK.
This car has been cared for by T.R. Bitz of Appleton, one of the most respected names in the Triumph community. Their preparation for sale earlier this year included a comprehensive service and extensive mechanical work: a new alloy fuel tank, Bosch fuel pump, six injectors, polybushed rear suspension arms, new brake and clutch master cylinders, new front calipers, fresh brake flexi hoses, four new tyres, and a new carpet set. Their assessment concluded that the body and chassis are in excellent condition and that it “drives like a good TR6 should, with no rattles.”
The most recent owner adds further detail, noting that the suspension and steering have been rebuilt, the rear end polybushed, and a new clutch fitted. The fuel system has been renewed throughout, including the metering unit, injectors, and filters, while the braking system has been overhauled with new calipers, servo, and hoses. The car also features a mohair hood and cover, a full premium leather seat rebuild completed only a few months ago, and an earlier body-off restoration that has clearly stood the test of time. Under the bonnet, a range of alloy and stainless-steel components enhance both durability and presentation.
The accompanying documentation is impressive, with a thick file of invoices spanning many years, previous sales listings, the original owner’s handbook, and an April 2025 invoice for £1,400 covering the interior re-trim.
Overall, this is a wonderfully sorted and highly presentable example of the sought-after CP-series TR6. With its striking Mimosa Yellow paintwork, refined interior, and strong mechanical condition, it represents a complete package—ready to be enjoyed and admired wherever it goes.
