Just arrived and under evaluation.
We are delighted to welcome this rather individual 1977 MGB GT to The Forge, arriving with us after spending its most recent years in Yorkshire.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate confirms that the car was manufactured between 27th April and 2nd May 1977, before being dispatched on 5th May to MG dealer Dutton Forshaw Limited in Liverpool. As supplied from the factory, it was finished in Flamenco Red with Silver Grey interior trim and specified with overdrive and Rostyle wheels. The original Liverpool registration was MWM 930S, with the cherished registration GTB 624B subsequently assigned to the car in 2020.
Believed to have been taken off the road in the early 2000s for restoration, the car eventually returned to the road in 2018, when it was presented for its first MOT test following an absence of almost 20 years. It was around this time that the restoration was completed and the car underwent a significant change of appearance, from its original Flamenco Red to its current Aston Martin Indian Green Metallic.
The car was subsequently sold by Sudbury-based dealer Two-One BH Ltd in 2022 for £24,950. Since then, a further £14,500 has reportedly been invested in the car.
Today, it presents as an interesting and distinctive interpretation of the MGB GT. The striking green exterior is complemented by a bespoke green interior, while further features include fuel injection, wire wheels and overdrive. Under the bonnet, the engine bay is particularly well presented, finished to an impressive, show-quality standard.
There is also some interesting mechanical history, with the car having benefited from a replacement Gold Seal engine, fitted by a dealer in 1989. Its accompanying history file is particularly worthwhile, containing the Heritage Certificate, printed photographs of the restoration and a substantial collection of invoices dating back to the early 1990s, as detailed below.
Perhaps not one for the MGB purist, but certainly an appealing proposition for someone looking for a classic GT with a little more individuality. With an interesting history, considerable recent investment and a specification that sets it apart from the crowd, this is an MGB GT with plenty of character and its own distinctive identity.

At The Forge Prees, we specialise in classic, vintage and enthusiast vehicles. Every vehicle we offer is unique, with its own history, character and, inevitably, its own imperfections. Unlike modern vehicles, classic cars require a different approach to ownership, maintenance and care, as well as an appreciation of their individual quirks.
We pride ourselves on providing honest, detailed descriptions of every vehicle, supported by extensive photography and video. Our aim is to give prospective purchasers as much information as possible, allowing you to make a considered and informed decision before buying.
We strongly encourage all prospective purchasers to carry out their own inspections and research, and to ensure they are fully satisfied with the vehicle’s condition, history and ongoing requirements before committing to purchase. Absolutely any inspection is welcome, and we are happy to facilitate independent inspections by prior arrangement.
Before purchasing a vehicle from The Forge, please take the time to read our Terms of Sale, which are available on our website. Alternatively, please contact us directly and we will be happy to provide a copy.
