There are plenty of MGB GTs out there, but finding one that has been restored with this level of care and passion is quite another matter.

This striking MGB GT has arrived at The Forge finished in Daytona Yellow, a wonderfully vibrant colour that gives the familiar lines of the B real presence. Paired with a black interior, yellow piping and contrasting yellow stitching, it has a distinctive look that feels both sporting and unmistakably individual.

What really sets this car apart, however, is the work that has gone into it. In 2022, the previous owner, a local gentleman who had retired from running a body shop, undertook an extensive reconditioning project as a labour of love. The result is a car that has received considerable attention both inside and out, with a photographic record documenting the work as it progressed.

The accompanying history is particularly impressive. A substantial file contains invoices for parts and materials totalling almost £4,000. That figure doesn't include the many hours of skilled labour invested in the project, making the paperwork a fascinating record of the commitment and enthusiasm behind the car.

Nor was the attention limited to its appearance. The engine, gearbox and running gear have also been reconditioned, giving this GT the benefit of extensive work across its mechanical components as well as its bodywork and interior.

Originally, this later MGB GT would have left the factory with rubber bumpers. The decision to fit chrome bumpers gives it a more traditional British sports car appearance, drawing on the earlier MGB's classic styling while retaining the practicality of the GT's handsome coupé body.

The MGB has earned its place as one of Britain's most enduring classic cars, offering engaging motoring, timeless looks and a wonderfully strong enthusiast following. Examples that have received this level of attention offer something particularly appealing: the opportunity to enjoy a familiar British classic with the benefit of substantial reconditioning already carried out.

Now at The Forge, this Daytona Yellow GT is preparing for its next chapter. Whether you envisage weekend drives along favourite country roads, longer touring adventures or a cherished place in your collection, it is a car that deserves to be enjoyed and cared for by its next enthusiast.
