We are pleased to welcome this 1969 MGB Roadster to The Forge. Finished in white with chrome wire wheels and a black interior, this example has benefitted from a number of sensible upgrades in recent years, including Easy-Steer power steering, overdrive, servo-assisted brakes, and improvements to the cooling and ignition systems.
The previous owner invested in excess of £16,000 bringing the car to its current specification, with work focused on improving usability and drivability while retaining the character of the original car.
We understand the MGB underwent a light restoration within the last 15 years, although there is no documentation for the work carried out. Since then, the car has covered limited mileage and remains well presented overall. The paintwork still shows well, with some age-related imperfections visible in places, while the chrome brightwork remains in good condition throughout.
The car sits on recently fitted 15-inch chrome wire wheels with matching spinners, wrapped in RoadX RXMotion tyres with good tread remaining. Front and rear mud flaps are fitted, and the black vinyl hood remains in good working order.
Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with newly upholstered seats, grey and black fleck carpeting, black door cards, and MG-branded rubber overmats. A Moto-Lita style wood-rim steering wheel has also been fitted, while the original Smiths gauges remain in place. Equipment includes overdrive, heater, immobiliser, and Easy-Steer power steering.
The carpeted boot area is tidy and includes a spare chrome wire wheel with matching cover, toolkit, and both half and full tonneau covers.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay is clean and benefits from a number of practical upgrades, including an oil cooler, Revotec electric cooling fan, electronic ignition, Lucas Sport ignition coil, upgraded HT leads, electric screen wash system, and servo-assisted brakes.
Although the car has seen limited use in recent years, it has reportedly been exercised regularly in fair weather and stored professionally during winter months.
This MGB starts readily and drives well, with smooth overdrive operation and the added benefit of lighter steering assistance making the car easier to use at lower speeds. Overall, this is a well-maintained and usable example of the popular British roadster, suited equally to local shows, weekend use, or longer touring trips.
A British Motor Heritage Certificate has been ordered and will accompany the vehicle in due course.
