A Customer Story That Defines The Forge

At The Forge, we often say that every classic car carries two stories—its history before it arrives with us, and the new chapter it begins with its next owner. Every so often, someone walks through our doors whose own story reminds us why we do what we do.
Recently, we received a remarkable reflection from a customer who had spent nearly fifty years dreaming of the moment he could finally bring home his ideal Triumph TR6. What began as a chance discovery online became a 360-mile journey, a long-awaited reunion with a car he had imagined since 1974, and an experience that touched everyone here at The Forge.
His words speak for themselves, and we are proud to share them in full: By chance, and unexpectedly, I found myself at the age of 72 in a position whereby I could take an opportunity to fulfill a dream that had been in my mind since 1974. My grandfather taught me to drive in 1970 and my first car was resurrected from the local scrap yard. A triumph TR6 was something that was simply out of reach financially and so years passed on into decades.
I knew my ideal TR6 would be Mimosa yellow, fuel injected and with overdrive. As I perused the internet I came across the Forge Prees Ltd website with just such a TR6 available for purchase. It was a150bhp model so maybe that would make this car a little more desirable to many.
A phone call to Christian resulting in arranging a visit with my wife to take a look at the TR6. A 360 mile round trip made more enjoyable by an overnight stay locally and a visit to the premises the following morning.
It is very difficult to find the words that made this trip and visit echo the experience. Suffice to say Christian is a genuine young man who welcomed my wife and I to the reception office where all relevant manuals, documentation etc were waiting to be examined. Along with a cup of tea of course. Next came a thorough look at the TR6. There is opportunity to see the vehicle undersides should you wish and to take a test drive. The TR was everything it had been described to be. The website hosts a multitude of photos and videos of each vehicle. Nothing is hidden and vehicle presentation is flawless. There was time to look at the other vehicles including the cars that belonged to Christians father. Delivery was arranged and Lee, the driver, arrived at my home exactly when he said he would. Christian arranged the MOT, DVLA change of ownership and road taxation. Contact was maintained from visit through to delivery.
There are too many people in todays world who think nothing of "reeling a potential customer in". Promising "the earth" and delivering a truly sub standard service. Christian is totally the opposite. You can trust his word. You can depend upon a purchasing experience that is faultless. You get what is described. All in all I round off this statement by saying that Christian is a son that his mother and father would be proud to know he carried on his fathers dream. If you are looking to delve into the classic car world, and are new to it, do not hesitate to travel in person, no matter how far the trip, and meet a young man who has the "job sorted". Thank you, Paul and Wendy, for sharing your journey with us and for reminding everyone why passion, patience, and trust matter in the world of classic cars.
From all of us at The Forge, we wish you countless happy miles and memorable moments in your Triumph TR6. Enjoy every drive.
