Long-time friend of Forge Press, Richard, has once again been in touch to share another memorable outing—this time as part of a special charity event. Many of our readers will remember Richard and his stunning 1972 MG Midget, a car he has proudly showcased with us on several occasions in recent times. A loyal follower of Forge Press, he continues to keep us updated on his adventures behind the wheel of this much-loved classic.

This latest journey saw Richard join fellow enthusiasts from the Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club for the annual Drive It Day, organised under the umbrella of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs. The event also helped raise funds for NSPCC Childline, making it a day to enjoy classic motoring while supporting a very worthy cause.

Richard brought his MG Midget, registration RMB 900H, out of storage to join around 20–25 other club members. The lineup was wonderfully varied, featuring a mix of MGBs, Triumphs, Escorts, even a Porsche—though Richard notes his was the only MG Midget in attendance.

The group set off from the small village of Maenclochog, travelling in convoy through the breathtaking Preseli Hills. Along the route, they passed near the historic source of the famous bluestones believed to have been transported to Stonehenge thousands of years ago.

The scenic drive continued into the picturesque Gwaun Valley, where the group paused for refreshments at the legendary Dyffryn Arms (Bessie's). From there, the convoy made its way through Fishguard and Goodwick, passing the ferry terminal to Ireland, before stopping to take in the stunning coastal views at Strumble Head Lighthouse.

The day concluded with a well-earned carvery dinner at the Harp Inn, rounding off a perfect blend of classic cars, great company, and beautiful Welsh scenery.

It’s always a pleasure to hear from Richard, and we look forward to sharing more of his journeys in the future as he continues to enjoy life with his MG Midget.
