A Triumph Reborn: The 1962 Triumph TR4 with Surrey Top £32,995

We are pleased to present this early 1962 Triumph TR4, finished in Signal Red and featuring a Surrey Top.
The car has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration, having spent much of its early life in Fort Worth, Texas, before returning to the UK in 2021.
The car had been off the road since 1977, with restoration work beginning in 2023. The project was overseen by its previous owner, an experienced Triumph enthusiast, who worked with a number of specialist companies throughout the rebuild.
The body shell was stripped back to bare metal by M&T Classics in Wombourne. New floors from Heritage Parts Centre were fitted, along with an original new-old-stock front panels, and the body was converted to right-hand drive before being painted in two-pack Signal Red.
The body and chassis were then reassembled, with careful attention paid to panel alignment and finish. New wire wheels and splines were fitted, along with Michelin XAS tyres.
The chassis was rebuilt with new suspension components and bushes, and the braking system was renewed. The original front brake calipers were restored by Classic Car Automotive, while the twin SU carburettors were refurbished by specialist Glen Watson.
The engine was rebuilt by Bradbury Engineering, receiving new pistons, re-bored liners, a reground crankshaft and new bearings. The cylinder head was fitted with hardened valves to allow the engine to run on modern unleaded fuel. An overdrive gearbox was also sourced and fully refurbished by TD Fitchett in Telford.
Further work included a new wiring loom from Auto Sparks and a re-cored and tested radiator from Wolverhampton Radiators. Throughout the restoration, components were renewed or refurbished as required.
Inside, the original seats were re-upholstered in Scottish leather with red piping by PJM Motors. The dashboard was finished in New White, while Custom Trim Creations restored the door cards and supplied the carpets. The Surrey Top rear backlight was sourced from Revival Motorsport Fabrications and fitted with new glass and rubber trims from Moss.
The previous owner estimates that over £30,000 was invested in the restoration, excluding his own labour.
The car will receive a fresh service and MOT ahead of delivery to its new owner.
