Another Exceptional MGB Arrives at The Forge

No sooner had we waved goodbye to one outstanding MGB Roadster than another arrived through the doors at The Forge. 

Having recently sold what we considered to be one of the finest restored MGBs we had handled, we are delighted to welcome a remarkably similar example that more than lives up to that standard. 

This 1970 MGB Roadster has benefited from a comprehensive £40,000 nut-and-bolt restoration carried out by renowned British classic car specialists Carn Bosavern Garage during 2022-24. The work was undertaken with no expense spared and the result is a car that presents beautifully while offering an exceptional driving experience. 

During the restoration, both front and rear axles were removed and comprehensively rebuilt, with all braking, suspension and steering components renewed. Sensible upgrades including Spax dampers and a fully polybushed suspension setup have been incorporated to enhance handling and road manners. 

The body shell was stripped back to bare metal before being refinished in Powder Blue, while extensive new brightwork, stainless steel bumpers and replacement lighting complete the exterior. Mechanically, the car has been treated to a fully rebuilt engine, renewed electrical, fuel and cooling systems, and a desirable five-speed gearbox conversion. 

Additional upgrades include electronic ignition, an aluminium radiator, electric cooling fan, performance engine enhancements and K&N air filters, making this a wonderfully usable classic. Inside, the specification is equally impressive, featuring a premium mohair hood, full leather upholstery, deluxe wool carpets, Moto-Lita steering wheel and discreet Bluetooth audio system. 

Quite simply, very few MGBs receive this level of attention. The result is a car that combines concours-level presentation when built with the reliability and usability expected by today's enthusiast. 

The car joins us from a respected local collector with whom we have enjoyed a long-standing relationship. His collection is renowned for containing only the very best examples, and this Roadster is entirely in keeping with that reputation. 

As the car has only just arrived, we are currently preparing a full gallery and detailed specification. However, given the level of interest generated by the last car, we expect this one to attract considerable attention.
