Now available from The Forge is this 1974 Triumph Stag, a well-maintained and thoughtfully improved example that has benefited from significant specialist investment in recent years.
Supplied by a respected Triumph Stag specialist in 2022, the car underwent an extensive programme of recommissioning and improvement before changing hands. Accompanying history includes MOT certificates dating back to 1986, when the recorded mileage stood at 32,305. The records show steady but relatively light use over the following decades, with the mileage reaching 48,977 by 2022.
The specialist preparation carried out in 2022 included extensive mechanical work, with new rear springs and shock absorbers, rear brake components, driveshaft gaiters, a reconditioned water pump and a major service. Additional improvements included new inlet manifold gaskets, thermostat, carburettor diaphragms, breather pipes and belts, along with a number of cosmetic and presentation upgrades.
Later that same year, a further £8,000 was invested in the car. Highlights included the installation of a desirable four-speed automatic gearbox conversion and substantial engine work, including reconditioned cylinder heads and replacement timing chains, tensioners and guides.
Since arriving at The Forge, the Stag has benefited from more than £5,000 of additional preparation. Work undertaken includes new wheels and tyres, cosmetic and bodywork improvements, retrimming of the factory hardtop, a full service, fresh MOT, and a professional machine polish and valet.
As part of our standard preparation process, the chassis has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected, with the underseal checked and topped up where required before the application of a protective Lanoguard treatment.
On the road, the Triumph V8 runs smoothly and the four-speed automatic gearbox provides relaxed cruising, while the refreshed suspension and braking system contribute to a well-sorted driving experience.
Presented in clean and tidy condition, the car retains an honest character. The paintwork is older but consistent, while the interior remains smart and well cared for. Supplied with both its factory hardtop and a relatively new soft top, it offers flexible classic motoring throughout the year.
Overall, this is a usable and well-maintained Triumph Stag that has benefited from considerable recent investment and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
