Just Arrived at The Forge: 1974 MGB GT

We are delighted to welcome this beautifully presented 1974 MGB GT to The Forge. First supplied on 10th June 1974 by Premier Motors Ltd in Southgate, London, and originally registered in North West London, this example comes with factory-fitted overdrive and a strong recent history of careful ownership. 

In 2017 the car underwent an extensive restoration programme carried out by an MG specialist. This included new sills, castle rails and complete rear wings, followed by a full bare-metal repaint. At the same time the car was mechanically overhauled and the engine converted to run on unleaded fuel. The quality of this work remains clearly evident today, with excellent structural integrity, gleaming paintwork and a very well-presented engine bay and boot area. 

Between 2017 and 2023 the MGB lived in Harrogate with a single owner who enjoyed around 7,000 miles of use and invested over £7,000 in improvements and maintenance. His stewardship saw the car fitted with chrome wire wheels and treated to a range of sympathetic cosmetic and mechanical enhancements. In 2023 the MG was purchased by its most recent owner, a classic car enthusiast in County Durham, who has enjoyed two and a half years of faultless, reliable motoring and is now ready for a change. 

On the road, GLU 292N is a genuine pleasure to drive. The engine performs strongly with excellent oil pressure, the four-speed gearbox shifts smoothly and the overdrive engages cleanly. Braking is straight and confidence-inspiring, the steering feels precise and the car handles exceptionally well. The interior is equally impressive, featuring attractive leather trim, wood-finish dashboard and steering wheel, and a desirable full Webasto sunroof, all contributing to a charming and comfortable driving environment.
