At The Forge, we love to see where our cars travel once they leave us – and few stories capture the spirit of classic motoring better than Peter and Lynda’s current adventure in their 1976 MGB GT V8, collected from us just two days ago to celebrate Peter’s 70th birthday.

From the moment they set off, the MGB GT proved itself a true touring companion. Within the first weekend, the couple had already covered 460 miles – including 120 through torrential rain – demonstrating that classics like these are built for driving, not just admiring.

Their first overnight stop was at Bleatarn Farm campsite, just a couple of miles from the Solway Aviation Museum, home of the legendary Vulcan bomber. With the sun breaking through after the storm, the MGB GT V8 looked perfectly at home against such an iconic backdrop.

From there, the journey continued north with another 255 miles to Inverness, where the car drew admiration along the way. “The car has been tremendous,” Lynda told us, adding with a smile: “We were even getting thumbs up from young men in hot hatches – though I assume it was the car they were admiring!”

Lynda also summed up the essence of classic ownership with a line that will stay with us:

“Cars like these are not just Stories in Motion. They create Memories in Motion.”

We couldn’t agree more – and we look forward to following Peter and Lynda’s continuing adventure in their birthday MGB GT V8.
